The Helotes 7 Brew Story So Far
The stand replaces the Sonic Drive-In at 12405 Bandera Rd. What Now San Antonio reported in April 2026 that the project would demolish the Sonic and build a new building of about 510 square feet, with an estimated cost of about $1 million. The state filing listed completion by early October 2026. The Helotes Planning and Zoning Commission also reviewed the site plan, including sign and lighting variances.
The site drew local attention in the summer. CultureMap San Antonio reported in August that the roughly 100-year-old oak tree on the lot was removed by July 20. The mayor said the city council does not approve tree removals and that a city arborist confirmed the work followed city ordinances. Some residents called for a boycott. According to CultureMap, 7 Brew said it was disappointed the tree could not be preserved because of construction requirements and that it wants to be a long-term community partner. CultureMap also reported that 7 Brew plans a Caffeine for a Cause fundraiser for local nonprofits, with no date or beneficiaries named. The free drinks drop is another way the stand is introducing itself to local businesses.
What Happens Next at Helotes?
New 7 Brew stands usually follow a standard opening playbook: Caffeine for a Cause, Friends and Family days, Community Hours, a Swag Day and a grand opening on a Monday. None of these have been announced for Helotes. The only confirmed date is the November 9 ribbon cutting, which is a Monday, but we have not seen it described as the grand opening, so treat any opening date as unconfirmed. We will update this page when 7 Brew publishes the schedule. Compare with other fall openings in our October 2026 new locations guide.
